Chair height is really important to me! I do a lot of seed bead embroidery and needle felting so I tend to hunch down if my chair is too high. Needle felting can hurt my (already stupid) shoulder if my chair is too low!

I invested in good tools (Lindstrom) after I found that cheap tools made my hands hurt more. I stay away from techniques that are hard on my hands such as beadstitching and beadwork. Which is too bad as I love those little colorful beads.

Love your story. I have to say, in all of my travels for bead shows, Bead & Button is my absolute favorite. So many great people selling beads, the people attending are always so friendly, and I really like Milwaukee. (Of course, I haven't ever been to Hawaii for a show, so I might change my tune if that ever happens.)

And I swear, one of these days I will fly in a little early so I can take a class. I can't help but get a little bit jealous seeing all of the amazing things people make in their workshops.

Great post. I have a 3 ring binder with pictures of jewelry that I like. I wasn't keeping notes on what I was creating. I was relying on my memory, which turns out doesn't have a very long shelf life for certain things. So just recently I've begun keeping notes on the details of what I make. It sure makes it a lot easier to refer back to my notes. Although, I've become very disorganized lately. I have lots of little notes with sketches scattered everywhere. I think I have way too many ideas going on and I'm anxious to keep going. I really like your idea of the journal. I might just have to gather my scattered notes and get then in a journal. It's time to get organized!

I also like your idea of taking jewelry you don't like and figuring out how to change it to what you do like.

I have to admit that I'm as hooked on the tools as I am on the beads!!! haha. Currently, I am waiting on a really cool tool to arrive in my mailbox. It's a special all-in-one tool that Stephanie Eddy (stephanieeddy.com) developed to use with Viking Knit. She even created a way to use the tool to make specially sized bead caps that finish off a piece of Viking Knit. How great is that?! As my darling husband always says, "you can do any job well, so long as you have the right tools." :)
